Urinalysis

Standardising the urinalysis lab

Attempts to improve the quality of urinalysis encounter many difficulties: slack preanalytics, poor reproducibility, limitations of measuring range, subjective particle identification, user-dependent result interpretation, and thus an overall lack of standardisation.

Especially routine urine particle analysis involves a number of manual steps such as centrifugation, resuspension, microscopy and finally manual documentation of results, making the entire procedure not only prone to errors but also extremely laborious and time consuming.

Using proven fluorescence flow cytometry technology in urinalysis dramatically reduces these analytical variables to provide quantitative results of high accuracy.

Sysmex's innovative application of this technology for urine particle analysis since 1995 marked a breakthrough in standardisation by enhancing precision and producing statistically superior particle counts. Native urine is analysed without the need for any pretreatment and the results are produced within shortest time. Automated, immediate analysis thus improves the workflow within the laboratory resulting in faster turn-around time.

Sysmex offers comprehensive solutions composed of different modules and in variable scalability, depending on the individual customer's needs. A strategy that fits – to tackle the standardisation objective.
