Senior Manager, Strategic Marketing

This is an exciting time to join us, as this role will be involved in several product launches for new products this year, as well as projects to expand the portfolio with Sysmex, our parent company, a global leader in in vitro diagnostics.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop their marketing career in people management, through managing a small team of strategic product managers. Reporting to the Executive VP Marketing, this role will be based at our Oxford, Begbroke Science Park site. This role is responsible for managing and guiding the day to day activities and have overall ownership of the Strategic Marketing team and will have a wide variety of duties such as:

1. Owning the Strategic Product Management process to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of competitive products including:

  •     Understanding the global market for Microarray, Next Generation Sequencing and FISH solutions in Cytogenetics and Cancer.
  •     Analysing market, define new product development and product improvement projects and provide marketing input to such projects
  •     Speaking with customer base and prospective customers to understand short and longer term needs and feedback conclusions to portfolio review process
  •     Ensure product USPs and clear advantages are communicated clearly in product brochures
  •     Deliver training programmes for new hires focussing on product details
  •     Ensure successful transition of products and information to the regional marketing team for launch
  •     Own annual portfolio review and discontinuation process

2. Inputting in to the tactical marketing process

  •     Input in to the development of tactical marketing plans for portfolio to ensure corporate strategic directives are met
  •     Fine tune positioning and future sales argumentation based on market response
  •     Input in to sales support literature and product collateral to effectively promote products

3. Own and maintain competitor and technology database

  •     Regularly researching and reviewing our competitors via websites, literature and market research, updating database with findings and recommendations.
  •     Obtaining feedback from sales, support and regional marketing colleagues and incorporating this into the database.
  •     Preparing recommendations that aid the creation of successful customer value propositions across the portfolio.

To be successful in this role we need someone who:

  •     Has a minimum of a BSc in biological sciences discipline, MSc/PhD preferred
  •     Has previous marketing experience (5 years plus) within a Life Sciences, Genomics or in vitro Diagnostics company.
  •     Significant experience of new product development and launch – multiple product exposure
  •     Has managed formerly or informally, small teams to deliver on group tasks and activities
  •     Has a comprehensive knowledge and keen interest in developing applications, new technology and uptake in clinical and diagnostic applications
  •     Has overall knowledge of FISH, Microarray and NGS processes
  •     Demonstrates excellent organisational skills and can manage conflicting priorities.
  •     Is driven to deliver for the customer, but also has the ability to manage expectations
  •     Has strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate and present findings to different audiences, both verbally and in writing
  •     Has a positive attitude to change, with the ability to adapt to different situations quickly
  •     Is excellent at time management, with the ability to prioritise tasks
  •     Has project management experience and skills
  •     Is able to travel internationally up to 20%

It would also be good, but not essential to have:

  •     Direct experience in clinical molecular genetics, or cytogenetics/FISH and able to talk the clinical geneticist’s language.
  •     A proven track record of success in growing or supporting sales in clinical molecular genetics, diagnostics or cytogenetics markets. Including managing relationships with Key Customers/ opinion leaders in their field.
  •     Marketing Qualification
  •     Proven track record of success in strategic product management collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, regulatory departments and including managing relationships with key customers/opinion leaders in their field and developing differentiated product strategies
  •     Experience with CE/IVDs or regulated products

Based:

  •     Oxford Office but able to travel to Cambridge regularly
