Sysmex launches new SureSeq™ Myeloid MRD Plus and SureSeq™ Myeloid Fusion NGS panels expanding haemato-oncology clinical research capabilities

2026/04/20 – Hamburg, Germany

Today, Sysmex Europe announced the launch of two new next-generation sequencing (NGS) panels for identifying measurable residual disease (MRD) and key fusion genes implicated in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML): the SureSeq™ Myeloid MRD Plus NGS Panel and the RNA-based SureSeq™ Myeloid Fusion NGS Panel.

With targeted coverage of 16 biomarkers associated with AML, including FLT3 and NPM1, the SureSeq™ Myeloid MRD Plus NGS Panel is optimised for MRD characterisation. Users benefit from robust detection of complex and challenging mutations such as FLT3 internal tandem duplications (ITDs) exceeding 300 base pairs, to ensure they can obtain comprehensive genomic insights from their samples. Its focused design enables high-precision variant detection without the increased sequencing costs typically associated with broader panels. Additionally, by leveraging SureSeq’s refined bait design strategy, the panel achieves ultra-high sensitivity, detecting variants at allele frequencies as low as 0.01%, providing an earlier and more complete picture of the sample's MRD status.

Intelligently designed in collaboration with leading myeloid cancer experts, the SureSeq™ Myeloid Fusion Panel ensures results meet the latest clinical research recommendations by efficiently identifying over 30 key AML-associated fusions, including KMT2A and MECOM fusions, in a single assay. By utilising a partner-gene agnostic approach, fusions with multiple partners as well as novel and rare fusions can be identified, expanding the ability to classify samples.

Both panels are fully compatible with the existing end-to-end Universal NGS Complete Workflow Solution, and complimentary* NGS data analysis software, Interpret, to minimise hands-on time and provide easy analysis without the need for additional bioinformatics resources. Interpret includes longitudinal visualisation of MRD dynamics over time – including SNVs, indels and ITDs. Available as a secure cloud-based platform or local installation, Interpret offers user-friendly pre-configured analysis pipelines that streamline laboratory workflows and accelerate implementation. Additionally, customisation options allow users to tailor their analysis to meet their specific clinical research needs.

Carlos Martínez Pons, Head of Sysmex Life Science EMEA: “These new SureSeq™ NGS panels strengthen Sysmex Life Science’s commitment to providing the most advanced tools for the genetic characterisation of haemato-oncological samples. By combining our SureSeq™ NGS solutions with our CytoCell® FISH portfolio, laboratories can gain deeper insights into blood cancer biology—empowering clinical scientists with the clarity they need.”
