With the opening, Sysmex brings three key European entities, Sysmex Europe SE, Sysmex Deutschland GmbH and Sysmex R&D Center Europe GmbH, together under one roof for the first time. The campus covers approximately 12,300 square metres of rental space and marks a major milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy in the EMEA region.
The official opening ceremony on 14 April was attended by representatives from politics, business and science. It followed the groundbreaking in June 2022 and the topping-out ceremony in September 2023, concluding a multi-year relocation project and underlining Sysmex’s long-term commitment to Hamburg as a life science and innovation hub.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sysmex in Europe,” said Alain Baverel, CEO of Sysmex Europe SE. “With this campus, we have created an environment that brings people, research and technology closer together. It strengthens our position in the EMEA region and creates the conditions for innovations that will shape the future of laboratory diagnostics.”
Strengthening Hamburg as a life science location
By choosing Hamburg-Alsterdorf, Sysmex is positioning itself near major research institutions and a strong life science ecosystem. The company cites the availability of skilled professionals, excellent infrastructure and Hamburg’s central location in Europe as decisive factors for the move.
“The establishment of Sysmex Europe at this new site is a strong signal for Hamburg as a life science location,” said Dr. Melanie Leonhard, Hamburg’s Senator for Economy, Labour and Innovation. “The campus strengthens our medical technology ecosystem, creates highly qualified jobs and demonstrates Hamburg’s attractiveness for international innovation-driven companies.”
Sustainable campus and modern work environment
The campus sets new standards in terms of sustainability and modern workplace design. The building has received the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, underlining Sysmex's commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable construction. Green clinker façades, accessible green roofs and an intelligent energy concept enable the buildings to meet high EU standards.
Inside, flexible spatial concepts based on the activity-based working principle allow employees to choose their workspace according to their task, from quiet focus areas and collaboration zones to highly specialised laboratory environments and training centres.

In addition to office and laboratory spaces, the campus includes a comprehensive mobility concept with company car-sharing services, extensive bicycle parking facilities and a station for StadtRad directly at the campus. Green courtyards and lounge areas that are designed as informal meeting and relaxation areas support collaboration and everyday working life.

Sysmex Europe hat offiziell seinen neuen Bürocampus in Hamburg-Alsterdorf eröffnet und damit den Umzug seines EMEA-Hauptsitzes von Norderstedt in die Stadt abgeschlossen. Rund 780 Mitarbeiter des Europäischen Hauptsitzes, der Deutschen Tochtergesellschaft und des Forschung- und Entwicklungsbereiches arbeiten nun gemeinsam am neuen Standort und stärken Hamburgs Position als Schlüsselstandort für Life-Science und Medizintechnik.
Mit der Eröffnung vereint Sysmex erstmals drei zentrale europäische Unternehmen, Sysmex Europe SE, Sysmex Deutschland GmbH und Sysmex R&D Center Europe GmbH, unter einem Dach. Der Campus umfasst etwa 12.300 Quadratmeter Mietfläche und markiert einen wichtigen Meilenstein in der langfristigen Wachstumsstrategie des Unternehmens in der EMEA-Region.
An der offiziellen Eröffnungsfeier am 14. April nahmen Vertreter aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft teil. Sie folgte auf den Spatenstich im Juni 2022 und das Richtfest im September 2023, und schloss damit ein mehrjähriges Umzugsprojekt ab. Gleichzeitig unterstreicht die Eröffnung langfristige Engagement von Sysmex für Hamburg als Zentrum für Life-Science und Innovation.

Stärkung Hamburgs als Life-Science-Standort
Mit der Wahl von Hamburg-Alsterdorf positioniert sich Sysmex in der Nähe großer Forschungseinrichtungen und eines starken Life-Science-Ökosystems. Das Unternehmen nennt die Verfügbarkeit qualifizierter Fachkräfte, exzellente Infrastruktur und Hamburgs zentrale Lage in Europa als entscheidende Faktoren für den Umzug.

Der Campus setzt neue Maßstäbe in Bezug auf Nachhaltigkeit und modernes Arbeitsplatzdesign. Das Gebäude hat die erste LEED-Zertifizierung (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) erhalten, was das Engagement von Sysmex für Umweltverantwortung und nachhaltiges Bauen unterstreicht. Begrünte Klinkerfassaden, zugängliche grüne Dachterrassen und ein intelligentes Energiekonzept ermöglichen es den Gebäuden, hohe EU-Standards zu erfüllen.
