World Thrombosis Day and its mission
On the 13th October – the birthday of thrombosis pioneer Rudolf Virchow – World Thrombosis Day takes place. It was established in 2014 by the ISTH (International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis), with a clear mission: to reach the global target of reducing the premature death rate from non-communicable diseases by 25% until the year 2025. Currently 1 out of every 4 deaths is related to thrombosis. We hope that by promoting thrombosis education, this will lead to increased awareness and ultimately save lives.
Laboratories performing haemostasis testing can strongly support in reaching this goal since reliable diagnostic results are the foundation of detecting abnormalities and disorders as early as possible, increasing the chances of preventing the worst and keeping haemostatic conditions under control. This is why we offer high-quality haemostasis testing solutions – analysers, service and reagents – to laboratories, in line with our corporate message of ‘Lighting the way with diagnostics’.
