CellaVision® Bone Marrow Aspirate Application
Digital cell morphology analysis for bone marrow slides
- Nucleated cell differential with comprehensive pre-classification into 17 cell types
- Automatic location of suitable areas for the differential
- Manual selection of differential areas when desired
- Remote review by several experts, with preliminary signatures and extensive commenting functions
- Reporting of results to the LIS, or create pdf reports including selected cell images
- Traceability in area selection, re-classification, commenting and results
A new standard for bone marrow morphology – built on proven digital cell morphology expertise
Developed by digital cell morphology pioneers CellaVision, the Bone Marrow Aspirate (BMA) Application runs on the established CellaVision® DC-1 digital morphology analyser using a 100x objective for excellent image quality. Using advanced AI technology, the BMA Application automatically locates, captures, pre-classifies and stores cell images based on their morphology. The level of automation can be adapted to your individual workflow and preference with three different analysis modes. You decide how much manual control you want to retain over the process.
Together with the CellaVision® BMA Review Software, the BMA Application enables morphology review, consultation, and verification of cell differentials from anywhere, at any time. The cell images are displayed, and the pre-classification results are then reviewed and verified by one or more qualified bone marrow morphology experts as needed.
AI-powered digital insight for consistent, efficient, and collaborative bone marrow analysis
CellaVision® BMA Application simplifies and supports morphological examination of bone marrow aspirate samples in several innovative ways, promoting accuracy, reducing turnaround times, and elevating your bone marrow morphology expertise.

Key features:
- Analyse multiple slides per order and select which slides to include in the results
- Pre-classified cells are easily dragged and dropped into the appropriate cell class, if re-classification is needed
- View cell images at adjustable magnification, in their surrounding and with cell classes side-by-side
- Select, compare and review the slide regions used for analysis, view results per slide or particle-by-particle
- Tag cells as dysplastic, and calculate % of dysplastic cells per lineage
- Compare cells with previous results, another cell class, or reference cell images side-by-side, using split view
- Generate overview images of smears for overall review or further analysis
- Archive cell images as part of the patient’s medical history
Software packages
CellaVision® BMA Review Software
Bone marrow morphology analysis benefits from shared expertise. With the CellaVision® BMA Review Software, multiple experts can review, comment, and verify within the same case – supporting second opinions, training, and consistent decision-making across any distance and lab network.
- Remote review and verification within the network
- Commenting and collaboration tools for case discussion
- Traceability of area selection and re-classification decisions
- Flexible expert involvement when needed
CellaVision® BMA Server Software
For laboratories with more than one analyser sharing the same database. The Server Software manages the database and connections to the analysers and review stations.
- 200 GB data storage solution
- Connection of multiple analysers and concurrent users
- Centralisation of workflows
