Category Buyer IT (f/m/x)
Your responsibilities
As Category Buyer IT (f/m/x) you will be part of a forward-thinking Procurement Team and drive the end-to-end procurement of IT products and services – from supplier selection to contract negotiation – ensuring strategic impact, cost-efficiency, and delivery excellence. In this high-exposure role, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and support key initiatives in our digital transformation.
You will actively shape the future of our Supply Chain processes and take in detail responsibility for:
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Develop and implement IT procurement strategies aligned with the IT Strategy and IT roadmap
- Identify, evaluate, and manage strategic vendor relationships to ensure performance, innovation, and value of delivery
- Lead contract negotiations, renewals, and service-level agreements (SLAs) with technology partners
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, legal requirements, and industry standards
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and Security to manage risk and ensure data protection and regulatory compliance
Cost Optimization & Budget Support
- Drive cost savings through bundling, negotiation, demand management, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis
- Support the IT Budget process, ROI Modeling, vendor comparison and benchmarking
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with IT leadership, project managers, and business stakeholders to understand technology needs and procurement priorities
- Support IT project delivery by ensuring timely acquisition of hardware, software, cloud services, and consulting resources
Market Intelligence & Innovation
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, market trends, and supplier innovations
- Provide strategic input on sourcing models, licensing strategies, and vendor consolidation opportunities
Your profile
You are a great match for this role if you combine hands-on experience as a Category Buyer IT (f/m/x) with a proactive mindset and the drive to continuously improve processes. Ideally, you bring the following qualifications and strengths:
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field – a master’s degree is welcome, but not a must
- 5+ years of experience in IT procurement or strategic sourcing, ideally in a mid-to-large enterprise environment
- Strong knowledge of IT categories (software, hardware, cloud, telecom, professional services)
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing complex vendor contracts
- Familiarity with procurement processes/tools and ITIL or ISO frameworks is a plus
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills
- Fluent in English; German is a plus
