2020/05/25 – Kobe, Japan

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who have perished as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and we offer our heartfelt sympathy to the patients currently suffering from this disease. We are truly grateful for the efforts of the medical community and all others who are working on the front lines to stop this pandemic from spreading. Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) has decided to donate ¥30 million to the Kobe City Support Fund for Medical Professionals to support measures for countering COVID-19.

Sysmex was the first to obtain marketing approval in Japan for a COVID-19 test kit (RT-PCR method). We have taken the lead in working with the city of Kobe through an industry–government alliance to build and operate a system to serve as a role model for strengthening PCR testing. In various countries around the world, the Sysmex Group is also donating supplies to medical professionals.

Kobe City Support Fund for Medical Professionals expresses gratitude to, and supports the activities of, the medical professionals who are working around the clock on the front lines to treat and prevent the spread of  COVID-19. Contributions to  this  fund are channeled to medical institutions in Kobe. Sysmex supports the goal of this fund, which is to improve the working conditions of  medical professionals during this crisis.

Sysmex believes its mission is to support the medical professionals who are on the frontline of the fight to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We are ensuring the continuity of clinical testing that these professionals perform daily in various healthcare settings around the world, to overcome this difficult situation together.
